Objectives: Kids are shown the American flag and colors are introduced. Also introduced are the shapes that make up the flag (stars, rectangles, stripes....) Materials: Star shaped hole punch or white star shaped stickers Scissors White, red and blue construction paper Glue stick or white glue

Instructions: Cut rectangles of white paper (cut sheets of paper 81/2 by 11 in half to 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 . Cut one rectangle from blue paper for each flag (approx. 2 in by 3 in). Cut strips of red paper (1/2 in by 8 1/2). Punch white stars from white paper or provide white star shaped stickers. To assemble: Show the kids an American flag and point out the colors and the parts that make up the flag. Provide each child the parts to complete a flag. Let them glue the parts of the flag in place with glue stick or glue.

Comments: This activity was done with 2 year olds.....The project used only a few stars and stripes.
