Objectives: Children are exposed to unusual paintbrushes and experience that these can be used for painting also. Materials: Flexible drinking straws Cable ties Water resistant tape Tempera Paint Paper Paper plates for paint palettes

Instructions: Bundle 14-20 flexible straws together with the flexible ends all at the same end. Bind straws with a cable tie just below the flexible ridges. Pull the cable tie tight so that the straws cannot pulled out of the bundle. Wrap the other end of loose straws with water-resistant tape to form a handle. Allow children to use the straw brush as a paintbrush.
Alternatives:
Comments: Handle may need to be trimmed for younger children. Also, take care with using small items such as cable ties with younger children
